A career centred on composition
Francisco José Martín-Jaime is a composer. His output includes opera, symphonic music, concertante repertoire, wind-band works, vocal music, chamber music, piano and electronics.
His language brings together the Central European tradition, flamenco and contemporary procedures, integrated into a dramaturgy of form, timbre and tension.
He has received the International Queen Sofía Composition Prize and the Málaga Award for Musical Achievement. His works have been performed in Europe, the United States and Japan. Flamenco Suite was premiered by the Mariinsky Orchestra in a programme with works by Ravel and Shostakovich.
His conducting experience includes symphonic, choral, operatic and ballet repertoire. He has served as Music Director of Camerata de Ópera, Principal Guest Conductor of Teatro Lírico Andaluz, and founder and Music Director of Orquesta Clásica de Málaga. This activity is presented as part of his musical authority and practical knowledge of the stage.
He has also worked in musical heritage recovery, notably editing and re-orchestrating Eduardo Ocón's Mass in E-flat from the original manuscripts.
